Meet Grace Johnstone, the visionary behind Grace The Wedding Planner — the first Certified Destination Wedding Planner in Tanzania. She is the founder, creative director, and heart of the company. Known for her professionalism, calm presence, unique design sense, and deep attention to detail, Grace ensures that every couple not only enjoys their wedding day, but cherishes it forever.
With over 10 years of experience in wedding planning, Grace brings both passion and precision to every celebration. She helps couples discover the perfect styles, trends, and vendors that reflect their personality — resulting in weddings that are exclusively tailored and truly unforgettable.

BACKGROUND AND PERSONALITY
Grace’s passion for creativity started at a young age. Growing up, she and her mother would plan and decorate family birthday parties, always earning compliments for their thoughtful and artistic touches. That love for design never left — even as she pursued other career paths.
Though professionally trained as a Lawyer and Advocate, Grace always found time to plan celebrations for family, friends, and clients — from birthdays and baby showers to destination weddings. Her warm personality, multi-talented approach, and natural eye for design make her an unforgettable presence in every event she’s part of.
One of Grace’s many strengths is transforming ordinary spaces into dream wedding venues. Her creativity, patience, and kindness are qualities that every client remembers. To her, every detail matters — from the table settings to the final walk down the aisle.
Education & Professional Journey
Grace graduated with a Law Degree (LLM) in 2008 and later completed her studies at the Law School of Tanzania. She has worked in several professional roles, including:
- Legal Officer
- Customer Accounts Manager in a major ISP company
- HR & Legal Officer in a leading trailer manufacturing company
- Program Officer under a UNICEF project
- Group Legal Secretary for a large corporation in Tanzania
- CEO & Founder of Grace The Wedding Planner & Company Till Date
All this time, she was also building her wedding business — first as Gracejane Wedding Consultants, and later rebranding as Grace The Wedding Planner in 2015. Since then, she has successfully planned and executed hundreds of weddings and events, including engagements, baby showers, send-offs, bridal showers, funerals, and photoshoots.
In 2019, Grace officially chose to specialize in Destination Weddings, focusing on locations such as Zanzibar, Arusha, Dar es Salaam, and unique elopement and safari weddings held in national parks and the Tanzanian wilderness.

As a passionate traveler, Grace has worked and explored destinations such as South Africa, Dubai, Lusaka, Zimbabwe, Mumbai (India), Bali, Mauritius, and Namibia — gaining global inspiration and cultural experience that she brings into every wedding she plans.
She is highly experienced in multicultural weddings including Indian, Arabic, Chinese, English, and modern Western celebrations — confidently taking on the role of planner, stylist, bridal consultant, and trusted companion.

Grace The Wedding Planner was officially founded in 2015, born from a shared passion between two sisters — Grace and Jane — who envisioned a space where couples could receive not just guidance, but real support, creativity, and expert execution for their big day.
What began as a small consultancy firm named Grace Jane Wedding Consultants, focused on advising couples on planning their weddings, quickly grew into something greater. After one year of offering only consultation services, the growing demand led to a full transition into weddings — and in 2016, the brand evolved into Grace The Wedding Planner, specializing exclusively in full wedding planning and design services.
Today, 10 years later, the company has grown into a leading name in the Tanzanian wedding industry — known for excellence in destination weddings, unique design concepts, and a deeply personal touch.
Where We’ve Been, What We’ve Built
Starting in Dar es Salaam, Grace The Wedding Planner has expanded operations to Zanzibar, Arusha, and other beautiful towns across Tanzania — crafting weddings in lush gardens, luxury resorts, national parks, beachfronts, and more.
We are now proud to operate as a certified luxury destination wedding company, serving both local and international couples who dream of saying “I do” in magical destinations.
With a dedicated in-house team of over 30 staff and a large network of casual workers and creative collaborators, Grace The Wedding Planner also supports a thriving ecosystem of local talent — from carpenters, florists, set designers, photographers, stylists, to DJs and chefs. We’ve not only built weddings — we’ve built careers, friendships, and long-term partnerships.
Over the years, we’ve had the honor of planning and coordinating over 300 weddings and have served couples from all corners of the world. Some of the incredible weddings we’ve had the privilege of executing include:
